QIP granted approval from Commission to assess to NSQHS Standards second edition
QIP is delighted to have been granted approval by the Australian Commission of Safety and Quality in Health Care (the Commission) to assess to the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards (second edition) for the maximum awardable period of three years—from 1 January 2019 until 31 December 2021.
The Commission released the second edition of the NSQHS Standards in November 2017. Health service organisations will be assessed to the second edition from January 2019.
The Commission advises that the overarching aim of NSQHS Standards (second edition) remains unchanged from the first—to protect the public from harm and improve the quality of health service provision—but gaps have been addressed while offering a streamlined eight standards and 148 actions, compared to the first edition’s ten standards and 256 actions.
QIP’s dedicated support team and expert assessors have undertaken or are undertaking ‘second edition’ training and are on hand to assist health service organisations to prepare for assessment against the revised standards.
