Domestic and Family Violence Awareness Training
The AGPAL & QIP Education and Training Team are proud to have co-developed with Micah Projects the ‘Domestic and Family Violence and Awareness Training’ eLearning module. This module is complimentary for all QIP clients.
The training aims to increase domestic and family violence awareness among non-specialist services that encounter victims of domestic and family violence.
This module is designed for those who interact with domestic and family violence services and organisations, including victims who are participants of programs and those who are assessing support organisations.
For most standards and frameworks, this module is considered optional and upskilling training, but a very worthy option. If you have had little exposure to this complex and challenging issue, this learning experience may be confronting. However, this training is designed to give you a positive sense of how you can participate if you encounter people dealing with domestic and family violence.
The ‘Domestic and Family Violence and Awareness Training’ module covers topics that will help you identify and understand domestic violence tactics, the abuse cycle, mental health considerations, the Duluth Model and Equality Wheel and forms of abuse; and offers many case studies.
It covers specific issues for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in Australia and the LGBTQIA+ community.
You will learn principles to manage grey areas, questioning techniques and dealing with disclosures and perpetrator image management, anger management, couples counselling and collusion, and where to next for your clients.
Micah Projects, based in Brisbane, is a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing services and opportunities in the community to create justice and respond to injustice.
