Celebrating Primary Health Care Nurses
Today, Wednesday 05 February 2025 marks Australia’s national Primary Health Care Nurses Day, a date dedicated to celebrating the vital contributions of over 98,000 primary health care nurses nationwide.
Having accredited thousands of general practices for close to 30 years, here at QIP we have had direct insights into the significant role these professionals play our healthcare system. These dedicated professionals play a critical role in care teams nation-wide, offering essential services to protect and maintain the health and wellbeing of Australians.
QIP is proud to take a moment to celebrate and highlight the importance of primary health care nurses on this special day, noting that their dedication and commitment to their roles continues each and every day.
Recognition of contributions: “Treating the whole person” campaign
This year’s campaign for Primary Health Care Nurses Day is focused around “Treating the whole person, not just the hole in the person” and emphasises the comprehensive, patient-centred approach that primary health care nurses bring to their roles. The campaign emphasises the role of primary health care nurses by focusing on symptoms but also aiming to understand and address the full range of their patients’ physical, mental, and social needs. Their unique blend of expertise defines their practice and ensures that care is tailored to each individual.
As part of the celebration, APNA has launched different initiatives to raise awareness and engage communities in honouring primary health care nurses. QIP is delighted to support this campaign, recognising the alignment between its mission to promote quality in healthcare and the work of the thousands of dedicated nurses throughout Australia.
Join the celebration! This week or any other day throughout the year:
- Wear primary colours: show your support by wearing red, blue, or yellow. These colours symbolise the energy and dedication of primary health care nurses. You can also share your photos on social media using the hashtag #PHCNday2025
- Find a billboard: using the map on the APNA website, you can snap a photo with the billboard and share it online to spread the message further.
- Download and display campaign posters: download the materials on the APNA website and display the posters at your workplace.
Honouring the cornerstone of our health care system
On this day or any day remember to take a moment to acknowledge the primary health care nurses that work daily to keep us well. They play a critical role within our health system, providing care and expertise in every corner of the country. Whether they are offering advice in a community clinic, managing disease in a local health service, or supporting vulnerable populations, their work touches countless lives.
On behalf of the QIP we would like to thank every healthcare nurse across the country for your service, care and ongoing commitment. Your outstanding efforts are appreciated today and every day!
