Celebrating excellence: honouring individuals from within QIP accredited community organisations

The Australian Honours and Awards are a distinguished recognition of individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to their communities, professions, and the nation. Established to acknowledge excellence across various fields, the honours highlight the impactful work of those whose dedication enriches Australian society.

Every year, these awards remind us of the power of collective effort, leadership, and commitment to positive change. These individuals are celebrated for their achievements in areas such as community health, social welfare, conservation, education, and beyond. As we celebrate this year’s honourees, we are proud to highlight individuals affiliated with QIP accredited, certified, or verified organisations, whose work exemplifies service and dedication.

Members of the Order of Australia (AM) in the General Division

Mr Phillip James Cornwell, Suicide Prevention Australia.

“For significant service to conservation and the environment, community health, and to the legal profession.”

Phillip Cornwell has been an instrumental figure in Suicide Prevention Australia, dedicating a decade of service as Deputy Chair and Director from 2014 to 2024. Hi also chaired the Governance Committee as well as making significant contributions to the organisation’s Reconciliation Action Plan fostering inclusivity and engagement.

Dr Christine Helen Craik, Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre.

“For significant service to the community as a social worker, to tertiary education, and as a volunteer.”

Dr Christine Craik’s impactful work at the Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre highlights her dedication to supporting victims of domestic violence. She is also a member of the Lived Experience Advisory Group in the Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre. Her contributions as a volunteer in education further reinforce her commitment to social welfare.

Dr Jessie Helen Harman, Ballarat Community Health.

“For significant service to social change leadership, and to the community of regional Victoria.”

Dr Jessie Harman has been a key leader at Ballarat Community Health since 2019, where she serves as Director and Chair. The organisation works on initiatives aimed at addressing health disparities and promoting social change in regional Victoria.

Professor Alun Conrad Jackson, Drummond Street Services.

“For significant service to health sciences, particularly as a researcher and academic.”

Professor Alun Jackson has contributed extensively to health sciences through his research and academic work in the fields of mental health and social support services. He has served as president and currently serves as a board member at Drummond Street Services, where he aided in the growth and development of community-focused initiatives.

Dr Robyn Maree Miller, MacKillop Family Services.

“For significant service to children, young people and families.”

Since 2016, Dr Robyn Miller has served in the MacKillop Family Services organisation as Chief Executive Officer. Her work has focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable children, young people, and families through support programs and care.

Mr Russel Donald Postle, Royal Flying Doctor Service.

“For significant service to community health, the accountancy profession, and to the community.”

Russell Postle’s association with the Royal Flying Doctor Service spans several decades. He has served as Chair of the Queensland section of the organisation between 2019 and 2023, and as a board member for almost four decades.

Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division

Miss Laura-Jude Johnson, Suicide Prevention Australia.

“For service to community mental health, and to youth advocacy.”

Laura-Jude Johnson has been an active advocate for youth mental health through her work with Suicide Prevention Australia. Since 2024, she has served on the Tasmanian Committee to promote mental health programs for young Australians.

Dr Justijana Katerinskaja, Safe and Equal.

“For service to social welfare.”

Justijana Katerinskaja has been awarded Medal of the Order of Australia for her efforts serving as a victim-survivor advocate on the Expert Advisory Panel at Safe and Equal since 2021.

Mrs Amanda Noffs, Tedd Noffs Foundation.

“For service to youth through health programs.”

Amanda Noffs’ dedication to youth health and welfare is evident through her longstanding work with the Tedd Noffs Foundation. As Secretary of the Board of Directors, since 1992, and former Chief Operating Officer, she has overseen programs such as the Program for Adolescent Life Management and the Treatment and the Rehabilitation for Adolescent Chemical Abusers. Noffs also co-founded the ASK! legal service, which provides legal support to vulnerable youth. Her work extends beyond the foundation, having also served as board member for Greenpeace Australia Pacific.
